A Day in the Life

Typical Tasks

  • Laying out and framing exterior and interior walls to blueprint specifications
  • Installing floor systems (joists, beams, subfloor sheathing)
  • Framing roof systems (trusses or stick-built rafters)
  • Installing windows, doors, and exterior sheathing
  • Building stairs, landings, and deck structures
  • Coordinating with other trades for rough-in inspections

What to Expect

  • Fast-paced, energetic work environment
  • Working on multiple projects simultaneously from start to completion
  • Early mornings and mostly day shifts (6 AM - 4 PM)
  • Direct sense of accomplishment — house shells go up quickly
